Why not visit a Church near you? It may be difficult to choose the right one, but don't be put off if the first one you visit doesn't suit you. There are many different approaches to worship. The most important thing is to find a church which is true to the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ, and open to the Holy Spirit's leading.
Why should I be interested in the Church?
First of all from an historical point of view. The history of the world would be totally different were it not for the Church. We readily admit that those who profess to follow Jesus Christ have not always lived as they should, and that many bad things have been done in the name of the Church (e.g. "The Crusades"). However, in spite of this, the influence of Christianity on world history has been overwhelmingly positive and beneficial.
Secondly, from a personal point of view. The Christian Church is the voice of God in today's world, calling people everywhere to turn to God and respond to His love. We have all sinned agianst God, but through Jesus Christ and His death on the Cross we can we receive forgiveness, freedom from guilt, and eternal life with God, guaranteed by Christ's resurrection from the dead. The message of the Church is unique.
HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?
The New Testament records that Christianity began in the Middle East after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The four Gospels (Matthew, Mark Luke and John) tell us that although Jesus had told His disciples that He would be crucified and rise from the dead, when it actually happened they were very sceptical. However, after meeting the risen Christ, they went out to tell everyone they could about Him. The book which follows the four Gospels (The Acts of the Apostles) records how the disciples of Jesus risked their lives to declare that He was alive. The news travelled throughout the known world, and eventually, during the past 20 centuries, to almost every corner of the earth. Christianity is founded fairly and squarely on the resurrection.
